BAM! Turn it up a notch!!!

Action Sports Athletes have definitely turned it up a notch, maybe 3! Being a part of action sports for the majority of my life, but not having not been directly involved in  for several years, I had no idea how far the sports of skateboarding and bmx have progressed in 2012. Watching the Dew Tour on TV reminds me of the passion I still have for action sports and living life. 

Whether it was older guys that I grew up riding, skating and looking up to, that are now the Legends of Vert or the fact that action sports now occupy prime time viewing on Sunday afternoon, I'm excited... to say the least. Just seeing skateboarders like Chris Miller, Steve Caballero, Christian Hosoi and Lance Mountain still ripping up the bowl, and BMXers like Jamie Bestwick winning his 8th BMX Vert Title and now showing his talents commentating, has me pumped up!!!

Back to the action... BMX Park is off the hook! Front flips off a wedge and cash roll transfers??? Are you kidding? New talent from the likes of Brett Banasiewicz and Kyle Baldock add style to tech for some amazing runs. These young, talented riders make the most difficult of tricks look effortless. Really you just have to see these guys ride to believe it, you can't describe the talent or the effort that it takes to push the limits of gravity like these riders do. Teens on vert in skateboarding... what??? that's been a while. We skated vert as teenagers, but today street is where it's at for most young skateboarders. And,watching Bucky Lasek at 39 compete against a 14 year old or Andy Macdonald skate next to 12 year old Tom Schaar in an epic portable bowl??? that's nuts. Bucky takes home first place in skateboard vert in front of his hometown crowd. If you haven't watched action sports in a while, then turn on the tube and you're bound to see them in everything from sports drink commercials to prime-time tv. The once "fad" sports I grew up on are now mainstream... And, be prepared to be amazed, BMX and Skateboarding have progressed to unthought of levels. That is, unthought of before this talented new crew of athletes took up the sports.

So, dust off that skateboard and take the bike out of the garage...but don't try these tricks at home.
